I Had a Dream…

For years, I fantasized about the perfect home-scale vermicomposting bin – something as efficient as the industrial “flow-through reactors” used by experts in the field.

The challenge was clear: these systems were enormous and costly, far from suitable for the average homeowner like myself.

I pondered various ways to craft a more compact version, but the truth is, I’m not particularly handy. Even if I had conceived a design, the odds of building it were slim to none. Partnering with a skilled DIYer seemed like the logical solution, but I struggled to find someone who shared my vision. Promising collaborations fizzled out over time.

And Then I Met Joe…

Enter Joe Denial, a true “Jack-of-all-Trades” – from technical illustration to graphic design, advertising, and home remodelling. In his journey, he stumbled upon vermicomposting. In 2011, Joe embarked on a project to build a substantial flow-through vermicomposting bed – the precursor to the “VermBin96.” He sent me diagrams, photos, and a PDF to gauge my reaction.

When I saw Joe’s work, I was astounded! This was the guy who could help me bring my dream bin to life! I reached out to Joe, asked if he’d consider teaming up, and thankfully, he said yes. That’s how it all began!

The VermBin24 (VB24) is a single-compartment, flow-through bin designed for those eager to experience the magic of vermicomposting without the hassle of a professional setup.

It’s compact enough to fit indoors or outdoors, yet larger than your typical “worm bin.” This means it packs some serious waste-processing power!

Joe’s skills exceeded all my expectations. He crafted a set of plans that are clear, easy to follow, and designed a beautiful flow-through bin that doesn’t require pro-level building skills or a hefty budget to construct!
