Another great question has been asked on social media regarding the safety of using the cardboard from beer cartons and boxes from a packet of shapes biscuits etc.

The question was…

“Is the chemical composition of the print understood? Is it’s breakdown products safe for food production?”

My response was as follows…

“This is an excellent question and although what I’ve discovered thus far applies more to the question of glossy magazines / junk mail brochures, it may still apply to this situation.
But it would certainly be worth double checking just to be sure.

In any case, the following might help to shed some light…

Worms actually break GMO’s back down into their original structural molecules.

Magazine companies cannot afford the liability risk of using heavy metal inks, in case a child eats the paper (or cardboard in this case). Therefore, they have not used heavy metal inks in decades.
